2d Lieutenant Samuel W. Treat.
This Battery was not engaged on the 19th. About 8 a.m. on the 20th one section under command of Lieutenant Bills moved from the elevation in the south end of the Dyer farm to this position, the Brigade being in line in its front. About 9 a.m. moved to the left and rear following Captain Schultz Battery; took several positions on the hills in the woods, as ordered by General Negley without firing. The Battery opened but once, firing not over 50 rounds, silencing a battery in its front. Soon after noon was ordered to the rear by General Negley, and encamped for the night at Rossville. Casualties: Horses abandoned 5.

Location. 34° 54.914′ N, 85° 15.98′ W. Marker is near Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in Walker County. Marker is on Glenn-Kelly Road east of Vittetoe-Chickamauga Road, on the left when traveling north. This tablet is situated about 100 feet off the west side of the roadway, in a large open field, flanked on either side by an artillery piece. Touch for map.
