2. An additional Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Marker
This additional dedicatory marker is found on the monument's reverse. It mentions that the monument was dedicated in September 1960 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the beginning of Mexican Independence. It mentions the then President Adolfo Lσpez Mateos, Governor of Guanajuato Dr. Jesϊs Rodrνguez Gaoana and Municipal President Jesϊs Gσmez de la Cortina. Even though this marker mentions that it is a tribute to the "Father of the Nation", it does not mention Hidalgo specifically, again probably due to his overwhelming fame in Mexico.
