La H. XXXV Legislatura Constitucional
del Estado, mediante Ley número
82 expedida el 21 de Diciembre de 1948,
restituyó a esta Villa el nombre de
La Cañada,
que primitivamente tuvo, dándole al
Municipio de que es cabecera a la
denominación de “El Marqués”, en memoria
del insigne benefactor de Querétaro,
don Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana,
Marqués de la Villa del Villar de Aguila.

English translation:
The 35th Constitutional State Legislature, through Law No. 82 given on December 21, 1948, restored to this Villa the name of
La Cañada,
as it was known historically, while giving to the municipality of which it is the seat the name of El Marqués, in memory of the illustrious benefactor of Querétaro, Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, Marquis of the Villa of Villar de Aguila.
