1. East Mississippi Female College Marker
Inscription. The East Mississippi Female College was established here in 1869 by the Central Methodist Church and became recognized as one of the finest female colleges in the South under the leadership of John Wesley Beeson, President (1869-1903). The college was destroyed by fire on the morning of February 24, 1903.
 
Erected 1995 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
