"Jacob Herz (born 2 February 1816 in Bayreuth; died September 27, 1871 in Erlangen) was a German physician and the first Jewish Professor in Bavaria. His achievements were centered less on science, and more on his personal interactions with his students and patients. Because of his popularity as a passionate teacher and practitioner, after his death a statue was erected in his honor." - Wikipedia
