Regarding Our Lady of Carmen Catholic Church. Our Lady of Carmen (Nuestra Señora del Carmen) is a Catholic hermitage and a cultural site located at the top of the "Hill of Carmen" (el Cerrito del Carmen), in the historic center of Guatemala City, whose construction dates back to the seventeenth century, at least one hundred years before the foundation of the city. It is consecrated to the Virgin of Carmen and has been declared a cultural heritage site of the nation and a Marian sanctuary. The history of the Cerrito del Carmen is closely linked to that of the founding of the Guatemalan capital.

2. Our Lady of Carmen Catholic Church and Marker
Note the marker on the tower in front of the church.
It has been reconstructed after the earthquakes of 1917 and 1976.

The marker text is potentially confusing, as it was intended to mark the 200th anniversary of the official founding of Guatemala City in 1776 and also note that this is the oldest church in the city. The church was built around 1620, so it would have been around 350 years old in 1976. Very soon, however, the Church of Our Lady of Carmen in Guatemala City will be celebrating its 400th anniversary!
