1. Shaker Meeting House Marker
This Meeting House, or Church, was built in 1848 to replace an earlier (1791) and much smaller Meeting House. It demonstrates many typical characteristics of Shaker architecture; double doors, one for men and one for women; a large meeting room with no columns to allow the dancing which was a part of their worship; a separate area for visitors; and simplicity of design and detail.
The Meeting House now houses the offices of the Shaker Heritage Society, a Museum Shop, and Exhibits. Hours are Tues. thru Sat. from 9:30am to 4pm
