Por orden del Pbro. Bachiller Don Vicente Cuellar y González en el año de 1769, se inició la construcción del Mesón de la Virgen con el fin de hospedar en él a los viajeros y peregrinos que venían a esta ciudad a visitar a la Virgen de San Juan; ha tenido various usos: primero el de hospedería, después de cuartel y al pasar a favor del municipio se había destinado a Escuela del Estado. Fue inaugurada por el Lic. Adolfo López Mateos, Presidente de la República, en tiempos modernos.
Mesón de la Virgen (The Hostel of the Virgin)

By order of the priest Vicente Cuellar y González in 1769, construction began on the Mesón de la Virgen in order to host travelers and pilgrims who came to this city to visit the Virgin of San Juan. The building has had various uses: first as a hostel, then later as military barracks. After passing into the ownership of the municipality it was designated as a state-run school. It was inaugurated by Adolfo López Mateos, President of the Republic, in modern times.
