1. Charles Ladd Cureton
Charles L. Cureton was born Feb. 4, 1875, the sixth child and first son of James Douglas Cureton and Catherine Ladd. His father was a captain in the Confederate Army. Cureton was active in South Carolina politics, holding several offices:

  • Mayor of Pickens: 1921-1927
  • Member of the South Carolina House of Representatives: 1929-1930
  • Mayor of Pickens: 1931-1935 & 1937-1939
