Inscription.
Camp of instruction, set up near old Coffeeville soon after Governor's June 8, 1861, proclamation requesting voluntary popular support for troop training. Merchants were to give goods; farmers, food; laborers, their work; camp officers, leadership; trainees received no pay until mustered into the Confederate army.
