The Colle family business contributed to the growth of Pascagoula as a port city. Captain Herman H. Colle, Sr., with his partner A.F. Dantzler, purchased the tugboat Fox in 1878 and began operating the Pascagoula Towing Company after the federal government dredged the Pascagoula River in 1875.

3. Capt. Herman H. Colle, Sr. House
The lot was purchased in 1879, with the house being built the following year. Herman Colle Jr. inherited the house from his parents in 1921. During a renovation in the 1980s, a mural of a woman was uncovered with the date 1912. Mississippi Department of Archives & History
