Inscription.

• l'île du Long Pèlerin, à Kamouraska,

1862, a lighthouse was built on the Îlet Bellechasse, located in the Anse de Berthier-sur-Mer, to signal the presence of this rock cluster and to guide sailors. The lighthouse dominates the area at 70 feet (21 m) above sea level, at high tide.

In the same year, four other lighthouses were erected in the South Channel:
• Île aux Grues,
• Grande Île, at Kamouraska,
• Île du Long Pèlerin, at Kamouraska,
• Île du Pot à l'Eau-de-vie, opposite Rivière-du-Loup.

In this area of the estuary, a lightship near Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies had existed since 1830. Also, in front of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, the Pilier de Pierre lighthouse, still in existence today, was built in 1843.

Its last lighthouse keeper, Lauréat Gaumond of Berthier-sur-Mer, lived there with his family between 1946 and 1964.

The Îlet Bellechasse lighthouse was closed in 1964 and then demolished.
