[1] Gannagaro

We set out...in battle array, expecting to find the enemy entrenched in the new village which is above the old. We entered the plain, however, without seeing anything but the vastigies of the fugitives. We found the old village burnt by the enemy, who had also deserted the intrenchment of the new which was about three-quarters of a league distant from the old. We encamped on the height of that plain....

Jacques Rene de Brisay,
Marquis de Denonville
July 14, 1687

[2] Gannagaro

19th July, Moved our camp in the morning from near the village of St. Jacques or Gannagaro, after having destroyed a vast quantity of fine large corn, beans, and other vegetables of which there remained not a single field, and having burned so large a quantity of old corn that the amount dared not be mentioned.

Luois Armand,
Baron de la Hontan
July 19, 1687

[3] Gannagaro

...14th July, we marched to one of the large villages where we encamped. We found it burned and a fort quite nigh, abandoned; it was very advantageously situated on a hill.

Jacques Rene de Brisay,
Marquis de Denonville
August 25, 1687
