1. The Theater District Marker
Inscription. The texts on this marker are written in Greek (left), English (center) and French (right). Only the English text has been transcribed. To read the Greek and French texts, enlarge the marker image by clicking on it.

English:

The base of the acanthus column with dancers (1): This was a porous base that supported a column 11 m. tall with acanthus leaves on its body and its top. Three dancers crowned by a stone omphalos, the symbol of Delphi, are depicted on the column (330 B.C.). Today it is in the Museum of Delphi.

The votive of Daochos (2): This was a 4th c. B.C. family monument, a votive by the tetrarch of Thessaly Daochos II, who was a friend of the Greek King of Macedon, Philip II. This splendid Thessalian votive is today on display in the Museum of Delphi.

Horseshoe-shaped monument: This monument included bases for at least 18 marble statues dating to the 3rd c. B.C. It may have been a family votive. One of the statues portrays an elderly man, known as "the Delphi philosopher" (3).

The Lesche of the Knidians (4): In antiquity, lesches were placed for assembling and discussions. This lesche was a rectangular hypostyle chamber with an area of around 180 m², dating to the first half of the 5th c. B.C. It was famous for its decoration
