Le phare de Pointe-au-Père / Point-au-Père Lighthouse
Ce lieu a joue un rôle clé dans l'histoire maritime du pays à titre de station de pilotage et de feu de navigation. C'était à Pointe-au-Père, où le golfe et le fleuve Saint-Laurent se confondent, que les navires changeaient de pilote. L'importance de l'endroit pour la navigation fluviale a mené à l'érection de quatre phares. Le premier, bâti en 1859, est détruit dans un incendie en 1867. Le deuxième, une construction de bois à trois étages avec lanterne sur le toit, est rémplacé en 1909 par ce phare en béton armé. Le dernier phare, placé au sommet d'une tour à claire voie, entre en fonction quand la station est automatisée en 1975.
