Regarding Juan José Rodil and Companions. Juan José Rodil and companions attempted to organize an invasion of revolutionaries from Mexico in order to overthrow the dictator Estrada Cabrera. Unfortunately the invasion was a failure, with Rodil captured near the village of Hoja Blanca. Rodil and companions were jailed and tried in nearby Huehuetenango. They were shot for treason on October 5, 1915 in front of the Temple of the Calvary in the same city. Some reports mention that they were buried at Cerrito del Máiz near the temple, but it appears that at some time their remains were transferred here to Antigua Guatemala.
