1. First Duel in Ybor City 1888 Marker
Inscription.  The first violent death in the Latin Quarter occurred in this vicinity when a pistol duel was fought between two Cuban cigarmakers. Their nicknames were "Teclo" and "Matancero." "Teclo" was killed instantly in the exchange. It is said the duel was over the favors of a beautiful señorita.

Location. Marker has been permanently removed. It was located near 27° 57.632′ N, 82° 26.583′ W. Marker was in Ybor City, Florida, in Hillsborough County. Marker was on North 15th St just north of East 7th Avenue (County Road 574), on the left when traveling north. Touch for map.
