5. Kearny's Death Site on Chantilly Battlefield
Gen. Kearny was killed on this spot on September 1, 1862, in a battle that followed the Union defeat at 2nd Manassas (Bull Run). Gen. Robert E. Lee returned his body through the lines under a flag of truce.
