Inscription. With the introduction of streetcars at the turn of the 20th Century, outlying areas of the City of St. Louis drew the attention of investors and developers plotting out the prairie land. In this picture, you can see the original Delmar streetcar line in the foreground, laid directly into a dirt road. Workers are preparing to update Skinker and Delmar for improved access in anticipation for a population boom!
