Regarding Sir Daniel Dixon Bart [Baronet]. Belfast was perhaps at the height of industry and commerce in the first decade of the twentieth century, its shipyards preparing to build the largest commercial steamships to that time, including RMS Titanic. Hence, the 1910 bas reliefs reflect a romanticized view of Belfast's accomplishments and promising future and Dixon's role in that growth.
