Regarding George Westinghouse. Westinghouse only attended Union College for one semester before the college president advised him to just get going. Westinghouse would lament his lack of formal education later in life. Westinghouse is best known for his invention of the air brake for trains, and his competition with Edison in currents: DC vs AC. Westinghouse won.
