1. Labor Education Marker
Inscription. Penn State was among the first U.S. universities to establish an academic program focusing on Labor in American society and offer Labor Studies courses for college credit. Founded in 1942 as an outreach effort to help union leaders learn their responsibilities in the post-New Deal industrial relations system, the Labor Studies Program evolved into a broader curriculum that encompasses Human Resources and Employment Relations.
