Inscription.  

1846 The Highland Mission was built. Lutherans
organized a German and English congregation there
in 1849. Built 1st church one block west in 1853
"St. Johannis Kirche." 1856 St. Paul's Lutheran
(MoSyd) built on this site. About 1862 they merged.
1888-9 this sanctuary was erected. To an unknown land
they came where GOD could be worshiped in freedom.
