Inscription. The hull fragment from an unidentified bugeye was recovered from the Magothy River in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The fragment forms part of the bottom of a seven- or nine-log bugeye of early vintage. Clearly evident is the slot in the center log for the centerboard, which acts like a movable keel. The logs are fastened together with mortise-and-tenon joints, secured with wooden pegs. Later boats used iron "drifts" (large rods) to fasten the logs to each other.

Erected by Calvert Marine Museum.
