1. Yawl Boat Marker
Inscription. Chesapeake Bay sailing vessels typically carried a small boat, commonly referred to as a "yawl boat." This was used to help maneuver in and out of harbors, or other restricted waters, or when the wind dropped. This yawl boat was built in Deltaville, Virginia, around 1908 and is a rare survivor. Little is known about the boat's early history. In later years it was used around the Petrini Boatyard at Eastport, Annapolis. Note the two large rings used to hoist the boat on davits when not being used. The engine is a model NL1 built by Palmer Bros. Co. and is not original to the boat.
