Inscription. N W 3 mi. Church & cemetery date from 1835. Originally Cockrell Church. Renamed for bishop Joshua Soule. Some of its preachers, achieved eminence in Methodism, some members in affairs of state.
 
Erected 1976 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
