1. Merrickville's Vimy Oak / Le chêne de Vimy du Village de Merrickville Marker
Inscription.  

This oak tree, planted on
May 13, 2017,
descends from acorns gathered
after the Battle of Vimy Ridge,
April 9-12, 1917.

It honours the memory of those
who served including three soldiers
from Merrickville who died during
that battle:
Private Thomas John Irvine and
brothers Lance Corporal
William Graham Knowles and
Private Hugh Lloyd Knowles.

This plaque was unveiled on
July 1, 2017,
on the 150th anniversary of Canada.

Crête de Vimy,
du 9 au 12 avril 1917.

Il commémore ceux et celles qui
ont servi lors de cette bataille,
dont trois soldats de Merrickville
