Inscription. Here is where the white rioters assembled, listened to inflammatory speeches, and marched in military formation toward East Broadway. The first victim was harmed here.
 
Erected 2017 by The East St. Louis 1917 Centennial Commission & Cultural Initiative, the Meridian Society, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. (Marker Number 18.)

Regarding Collinsville at St. Louis Avenue. Richard Brockway, the white man who inflamed the crowd, eventually was convicted and sentenced to prison for the crime of rioting.
