1. Hawthorne House Marker
Inscription. Built 1910 by lumberman Charles Hawthorne. Girlhood home of his daughter Beatrice Hawthorne Moore (1898-1990), first woman ever elected to the State House of Representatives (1940) and second woman ever elected to the Legislature. Also first woman to preside over the State Legislature or to introduce legislation.
 
Erected by Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau.
