1. Wheeler's Raid around Rosecrans Marker
Inscription. Leaving its overnight bivouac three miles west, Wheeler's Cavalry Brigade, having passed completely around Rosecrans' army, crossed the highway here about 3:30 A.M., rejoining Bragg's Army of Tennessee in time to actively screen its left flank during the Battle of Murfreesboro.
