1912
Thomas Pangborn moves his sand-blast manufacturing business to Hagerstown.
1915
The Maryland Theatre is constructed. The Hagerstown Municipal Band plays its first concert that July in this theater.
1915
The Hagerstown Hubs becomes the City's first professional baseball team and were part of the Blue Ridge League. They played in a stadium called "Willow Lane Park" located across South Potomac Street from here.
1916
The city purchases land for City Park. The park opens in 1921.
1917
The Maryland Pressed Steel Company begins the manufacture of aircraft in Hagerstown. This venture closed at the end of World War I, but in 1923, the Kreider-Reisner Aircraft Company begins building aircraft at a shop on Pennsylvania Avenue.
1918
The Hagerstown Municipal Electric Light Plant begins operation.
1921
Hagerstown holds its first "Mummers" Parade.
1922
Under the leadership of Mayor Dr. John M. Scott, sanitary systems are introduced. The Sewer Department first utilized an "Imhoff Tank" for sewage treatment of municipal wastewater.
1928
The Willson Water Plant begins operation on December 7, improving public health and supporting more intense urban development.
1929
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is founded in City Park by Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Singer, Jr.
