Regarding Royal Charter of Santiago Tarandacuaro. At some point in the town's history its name lost the final 'r', going from Tarandacuaro to Tarandacuao and at the same time making the name exceedingly difficult for outsiders to pronounce. Commonly it is known as 'Tarandas.'
