Inscription. Noel Neill acted in almost 100 movies, but she is best known for her portrayal of Lois Lane in the television series "The Adventures of Superman." Miss Neill, also known as "The First Lady of Metropolis," has been a favorite celebrity guest of numerous Superman celebrations.

More about this marker. The Lois Lane Statue was unveiled (as well as the marker) on June 11, 2010. Neill was present at the ceremony, and gave a short speech before she unveiled her character's statue.
 
Regarding Noel Neill. As the marker says, Neill enjoyed her fame as the "first Lois Lane" in the Superman film franchises. She would appear in later Superman films, including the 1978 movie (as Lois Lane's mother, Ellen) and her most recent appearance in the 2006 film Superman Returns as Lex Luthor's wife. She had made many appearances at the Superman Celebration, which is held annually in Metropolis.

Neill passed away in 2016 (age 95) after a long illness.
