1. Nashville General Hospital Marker

Inscription. Opened on this site February 1890, with a capacity of 60 beds. Doctor Charles Brower of the University of Nashville Medical Department was appointed Superintendent. In 1891 a school of nursing was opened with Miss Charlotte E. Perkins as Superintendent. This was the first training school for nurses between the Ohio River and New Orleans.

Erected 1971 by The Historical Commission of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County. (Marker Number 48.)
