Inscription. This is one of the few surviving late 19th-century horse barns in Davidson County. Architectural historians refer to the style of the building as a transverse crib barn, or a central aisle barn. The structure was erected by 1898, most likely when Clover Bottom was owned by Andrew (1854-1909) and Anna Gay Price (1855-1939). The Prices purchased the farm in 1886, and the barn reflects the era when Clover Bottom Farm became well known regionally for its thoroughbred horses and livestock. From 1889 to 1897, Mr. Price served in the U.S. House of Representatives from the 3rd Congressional District of Louisiana.

The Prices first used Clover Bottom as their summer home, but later spent more time here as the years passed and as Mr. Price's health declined. John W. Thomas, who served as President of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition at Centennial Park in 1897, worked for the Prices and oversaw the horse breeding operations here during this period. In the 20th century, the barn had some of its horse stalls converted for milking stalls when the farm housed a dairy operation.
