More about this monument. This statue faces a main road, so I would argue it was placed to be seen by passers-by. Supposedly, it was Southern memorials that faced north - towards the enemy - but this also doesn't seem to be the case.

1. Monument Faces South
I always thought the rule on thumb for northern Civil War Statues was to face north. This one faces south. I have to assume that the direction of the statues was discretionary? Thoughts?
