Inscription. These bricks were knocked off of the Hancock Presbyterian Church by a cannon ball, when General Stonewall Jackson's forces shelled Hancock, from Brusius Hill, which is located across the Potomac River in West Virginia and now known as Jackson's Hill. The Union soldiers were entrenched on the hill north of town shelling General Jackson's forces. This occurred in January, 1862.
