1. 2215 E. Broad Street Marker

Inscription. Built in 1861 for William Yarbrough, one of Richmond's leading tobacconists, whose factory still stands at the SW corner of 25th and Franklin Streets. A classic example of the Late Greek Revival style with Italianate touches, it is credited to architect Capt. John Freeman. 2209 E. Broad Street, built by Mr. Yarbrough's partner Miles Turpin, is this home's exact replica. The property was bought by Yarbrough from the estate of Elizabeth Van Lew's father, who lived on Grace Street, between 23rdh and 24th Streets.
