1. The Cove Marker
Inscription.
Shadowed on the southwest by Pull-Tight Hill and bisected by Arno Road, the Cove was home to the Biggers, Bizzell, Clendenin, Connell, Crafton, Creswell, Farrar, Graham, Ladd, Rickman, Simmons, Skinner, Watson, White, and Wilson families. On May 10, 1863, the political complexion of the area changed when eight Confederate soldiers murdered Will Biggers, a medically discharged Confederate soldier whose brother was in the Union army. As a result of this misdeed, the Cove became a Republican island in a Democratic county. Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church , est. 1833, and Beech Grove United Methodist Church , est. 1878, remain active congregations. Simmons High School, built in 1898, closed in 1947.

Erected 1999 by Williamson County Historical Society.
