This IX-inch Dahlgren smooth-bore cannon, originally made for the Union Navy, was intended to be the CSS Peedee’s broadside weapon at sea. Its operation required a crew of over 20 men. The gun had an effective range of over 3,500 yards when firing shells of 130 lbs.
