1. Robert Tweedy Marker
Inscription. Born in Illinois, Robert Tweedy and family came to California from Conway County, Arkansas in 1852. They were part of the Johnson wagon train arriving in November 1852. Among the earliest settlers in Southern California, Robert and his wife Mary (Holyfield) acquired over two thousand acres of the old “Rancho San Antonio” which became South Gate when subdivided in 1971. Tweedy Boulevard was named after the family.
