In remembrance of the strength, courage and determination of William Gilane—who created opportunity and a lasting legacy of integrity through living his core values—may his spirit never be forgotten.
Born in 1842 in County Leitrim, he crossed the Atlantic in 1845, settling in Providence. He founded Wm Gilbane Contractor and Builder in 1873, Wm Gilbane and Brother Contractor in 1883 and the Gilbane Building Company in 1908. From those humble roots, his company has grown to include Gilbane Development Co. (1980) and Gilbane Inc. (2000) and its helping shape the skyline of Providence and cities across this great nation.
