1. Invasion of Kentucky Marker
Inscription. The 2nd Tennessee Cavalry Battalion advanced over land as far north as Munfordville. Confederate forces occupied Bowling Green on September 18, linking up with a Kentucky brigade from Camp Boone near Clarksville. The combined force of 4,500 men was under the command of Brigadier General Simon B. Buckner.
