Location. 41° 47.625′ N, 120° 30.613′ W. Marker is near Davis Creek, California, in Modoc County. Trails West Inc. gives directions to this marker: Go 7.8 miles west on County Rd 48 (from Hwy 395) to a dirt road on the left just past a cattle guard. Turn left. Go 1.9 miles to a faint, rocky 4WD dirt road (very rocky) on the right. Caution: The rocky dirt road on the right is located just before the washed-out road at the creek. DO NOT attempt to cross the creek at this location. Turn right. Go 0.2 miles to a creek crossing. Turn left, cross the creek using 4WD. After crossing the creek turn left. Go. 0.4 miles and park off the dirt road. Walk

More about this marker. This historical marker is difficult to get to and across very rocky roads and requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle and in good weather between June and October. It also requires a short hike after parking off a rocky dirt road.
 
Regarding South Road - McGinty Creek. This section of the Applegate Trail was traveled on during the 'dry' years of 1846-1851 and emigrants could cross west on the lake bed of Goose Lake. From this marker, the trail traversed northwest to marker A-35.
