Location. 41° 51.408′ N, 120° 39.77′ W. Marker is near Davis Creek, California, in Modoc County. Trails West Inc. provides directions to this marker: From Marker A-35, return to FS Route 73 leaving all gates as you found them. Turn left. Go 6.0 miles to a dirt road (FS Road 47N09D) on the left. Turn left. Go 1.0 miles to a stock pond on the left and park (or you can continue south on the very rocky dirt road and closer to Fletcher Creek). Continue south either walking or driving one mile to Fletcher Creek. Do not cross the creek. Turn left (east), crawl under or over the wire fence, and walk about 350 yards up the creek. From

More about this marker. This historical marker somewhat difficult to get to and across very rocky roads and requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle and in good weather between June and October. It also requires a short hike after parking off a rocky dirt road.
 
Regarding South Road - Fletcher Creek. Trails West, Inc. sells a driving guidebook titled A Guide to the Applegate Trail - From Goose Lake to Southern Oregon which provides maps and additional history on the Applegate Trail as it passed through designated marker locations. Purchasing this guidebook prior to visiting the Applegate Trail markers is highly encouraged to gain a better experience of the history of this historic trail.
