Dr. Benjamin Rush
This statue is a replica of a bronze sculpture of Dickenson College founder Dr. Benjamin Rush that stands of the grounds of the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, D.C. The original statue by Roland Hinton Perry was a gift to the nation from the American Medical Association, in honor of Dr. Rush’s contributions to the field of psychiatry and exploratory medicine in colonial America. A century later, on June 11, 2004, Dickenson College held a dedication ceremony for the replica during the Alumni Weekend celebration.
