Regarding Applegate Trail - A Fine Prairie. This marker represents the original 1846 Applegate Trail route that passed through here. Trails West Inc describes this original route leaving Marker A-77 and following North Pacific Hwy (Riverside Street) 2.7 miles to Table Rock Rd. The trail traveled 0.5 miles along this road (more or less) to Merriman Rd. then 0.6 miles on this road to Mace St. on the left and to Marker A-78. From this marker, the 1846 route continued west, then northwest to Marker A-81 where it merged with the 1853 Route from Jacksonville.
