1. David Lewis and Susan A. Thompson Lewis Parish Marker
Inscription. Son-in law and daughter of Ira Thompson, leader of the first wagon train to arrive in El Monte in 1851. They were married in 1853. David Lewis was a County Supervisor (1855-1856). Susan helped her family at the Willow Grove Hotel before their marriage. In the early 20th century, Mrs. Lewis brought back the custom of cleaning the cemetery on Memorial Day.
