Pour commémorer le 50e anniversaire de l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture, La FAO, fondée en cette ville le 16 octobre 1945, nous inaugurons cette place publique.

Le concept de cette place publique, élaboré par l’architecte paysagiste municipal André Plante, remet en mémoire les berges du Saint-Laurent jadis présentes à cet endroit et le rôle historique du fleuve dans la fondation et le développement de la Ville de Québec.
Il évoque, par un traitement de surface en pavés, la courbe ondulatoire des vagues qui vient se matérialiser en trois dimensions par l’intégration d’un bassin, d’une remontée de vagues taillées dans le granit et de jets d’eau qui rappellent le ressac de la vague.

2. Place de la FAO Marker
He evokes, by a surface treatment in cobblestones, the wave curve which comes to materialize in three dimensions by the integration of a basin, of a rise of cut waves in granite and water jets reminiscent of the surf of the wave.
The work of art by artists Richard Purdy, Carmelo Arnoldin and François Hébert entitled "La Vivrière", continues the evocation of theme by giving birth to the ground an imaginary witness to the port history of Quebec: a figurehead carrying in its arms food products from all continents, symbol of the generosity, abundance and fertility of the earth.
