Built on land originally part of Greenville Springs, this imposing Greek Revival house was built in 1840 by Dr. James Shannon, President of Bacon College. Later the residence of John Bryan Bowman, Mercer County farmer and crusader for higher education in Kentucky.Erected by James Harrod Trust. (Marker Number 39.)
